Frequently asked questions

Below, we've made a list of frequently asked questions and provided answers for each.

However, feel free to contact us anytime if you have questions or need more information.

Why is a cover not necessary?
Serval 26 maintenance-free en self-draining
The Serval is self-draining, so after rainfall or navigating through waves, the built-in self-draining system automatically expels any water that enters. Therefore, a cover is not needed!
What kind of propulsion is suitable?
Serval 26 navigation
Due to its unique hull speed, very little power is needed to propel the boat, allowing you to sail quickly and for long durations with minimal power. This makes the boat particularly well-suited for use with an electric outboard motor.
Can the Serval sail fast?
Serval 26 has high hull speed
The Serval is an LDL-designed vessel, featuring a hull that is unusually long for its water displacement. LDL stands for Low Displacement/Length. The tender can sail just as fast as a regular boat with 50% less power.
What are the sailing characteristics?
Serval 26 has unique sailing characteristics
Due to its unique shape, the Serval glides through the water quickly, smoothly, and stably with minimal power, producing very little wave action. The ease with which the Serval can be steered is unparalleled, even for those with little experience in piloting a boat.
How did the boat's design come to life?
Serval 26 classically lined aluminium tender
Nigel Irens is a well-known figure in the world of water sports. Over the past 45 years, he has designed various sailing and motor yachts, winning accolades for his work. The design of the Serval also originates from Nigel Irens, although 'his Serval,' the Claraboat, is made of wood. However, we have had the privilege of adapting his design for our saltwater-resistant aluminum sports tender: The Serval.
Can the boat withstand saltwater?
Serval 26 saltwater resistant aluminum boat
Aluminium 5083 is a naturally hard (non-heat treatable) alloy, renowned for its resistance to saltwater corrosion. This is why 5083 aluminium is commonly used in yacht construction and the food industry. This type of aluminium develops a gray patina.
How sturdy is the vessel?
Serval26 aluminium sport tender
Each Serval is handcrafted with utmost care, featuring six strakes per side that are overlapped and welded. This not only adds to its beauty but also ensures extra strength. This robustness provides stable buoyancy, allowing the boat to glide through the water seamlessly without creating waves.

The design offers a sense of freedom, and you can effortlessly navigate right up to the beach!

Lack experience in piloting boats? That's no issue with the Serval. You'll find that the boat is easy to steer and it glides smoothly through the water. Its open design provides both visibility and freedom, and the boat's stability on the water makes it suitable for various activities.
